Keeping teenagers busy: Shelter 2 weekends and holidays, fall 2014
Yulia Los, one of our Shelter 2 housemoms, recently sent photos of some activities that kept our teenagers busy during the autumn holidays. Take a look!
Two volunteers came and helped with a makeup and photo-shoot day for the girls.
Another volunteer held a “master sushi class.” She taught about the different names of sushi and helped everyone make a roll. It was the first time several of the kids had eaten Sushi, especially those still at Berdichiv – Sveta, Kiril, Roma, and Sasha.
The Board visited, so the staff and kids prepared veriniki and they had a youth service that night. In one picture you can see a girl stirring a pot: that is Snizhana, who graduated from Berdichiv orphanage and is now studying in Zhytomyr. She’s been to the Shelter for a couple of weekends and holidays, but we’d love for her to live there. She’s a great girl! Please pray for her.
One day they made handmade notebooks. The kids really enjoy doing handwork.
One Saturday, volunteer Sveta taught drawing lessons. Katya Dubenko especially enjoyed this. Another day there was a lesson about managing money.
Tanya Misha, another Shelter 2 housemom, made an interesting game. The kids divided into two teams and did different activities with time limits.
