Healing Begins at Camp
Dear Friends,
We’re so thankful to all of you who’ve funded Last Bell camps for six summers, going on seven!
Sasha’s Story
Every spring, teens age out of regional orphanages and move to Zhytomyr for trade school. They arrive in our city traumatized and alone. But at camp, they learn that Christians at Last Bell will love and advocate for them, and healing begins.
Sasha and staff member Lena Voznyuk
Sasha was a troubled young man who lost himself in alcohol and computer games. But at camp in 2017, he was transformed. While peeling potatoes with our staff, he told Lena he “didn’t want a purposeless life.” There at the campground, our staff called to enroll him in a Christian college that teaches IT skills. At college, he decided to follow Jesus. He’s even visited his old social dorm in Zhytomyr to share his faith and encourage others to try IT. All this began at camp!
Four Camps in 2018
This summer, we have four camps planned:
- Two for younger orphanage grads like Sasha, including some who are new to Zhytomyr. Camp helps us bring these teenagers into our caring community.
- Two for Stop the Cycle parents, who have the impossible task of raising children without role models. At camp, we offer parenting classes and family activities.
You Can Make It Happen
Will you send one orphanage graduate to camp this summer?
It only takes $115!
With gratitude,
The Last Bell team
