We are raising a total of $28,000: summer camps ($11,000) plus the ministry van ($15,000 – $17,000). Here are a few pictures of past summer camps and, at the very bottom, an example of the kind of van we’d like to purchase:
A dad and his daughter at summer camp. We tend to see more involvement from dads during the summer, at camp, than other times.
A group of moms learning from Oksana about parenting skills while the guys hear from Andrey.
Volunteers at camp provide activities for the kids and spend quality time with them while their moms and dads are in parenting lessons. At other times, families are able to spend time together playing and having fun.
Thanks for giving! Each gift will go toward:
1. Summer camps for three groups: two Stop the Cycle groups (many young orphan moms, a few dads, and their little ones) and kids/staff from our residential program for orphan teens. Your gifts will cover food, transportation, and lodging for 7 days, for 110 people. TOTAL: $11,000
2. A pre-owned passenger van big enough to meet the needs of our growing ministry – including the need to safely transport moms and their kids. We would love to have this van in time for camp transportation! TOTAL: $15 – 17,000 (or more)
ABOUT CAMP:
Because they come from such hard places, our young people have spent years mistrusting people and God. These retreats are so important for our ongoing work with them. The staff thoughtfully prepares for discussions, discipleship, and fun activities. Year after year, Last Bell’s summer retreats have strengthened our special community while guiding many young people closer to God and lives of purpose.
Our camps are important in a special way to our young orphan-parented families: moms and dads who never had a good example of parenting. At our Stop the Cycle camps, they will attend parenting classes on various topics while volunteers take care of their babies and young children; plus they’ll have plenty of time to play with their kids. |
