Coming Soon: the New & Improved Lastbell.org
Get ready – the new Last Bell website is coming! We have partnered with Fishhook, an energetic, talented company in Indianapolis that works specifically with churches and nonprofits. We’re excited about the way a new website will help us better share what we’re all about: bringing life and hope to orphans in transition.
We hope to launch in mid-February. We’ll keep you updated!
A Fresh Look for our Newsletter
This will be our last traditional-format newsletter. After the new website launch, our stories about Last Bell’s work with young people in Zhytomyr, and any announcements, will first be posted to our blog. Then, once each month, those stories will be “curated”: collected into a newsletter.
Don’t worry – you don’t have to be tech-savvy to read the new newsletter. Just wait for February’s edition to show up in your inbox, and click on whichever stories interest you the most!
For our hard-copy newsletter recipients: If you have an email address, we highly recommend switching to the e-newsletter. Just drop us a line at info@lastbell.org to let us know. However, we’ll continue sending out hard copy versions of the newsletter to those on the list.
10 Years of Helping Kids Survive & Thrive
August will mark Last Bell’s 10th Anniversary! We were incorporated in August of 2006.
Over the last ten years, thanks to the many friends who have partnered with us, we have seen our organization grow from one small transitional home to an organization reaching hundreds of young people.
When we first began working with teenage orphans in Zhytomyr, we were often literally saving lives: preventing overdoses, suicide, or violence. As Zhytomyr’s orphanage graduates saw we would be faithful to them, they began to accept help with housing difficulties, job hunting, trade school studies, relationships, lost legal documents, child-rearing, court dates, and more.
Today, our hard-working staff serve these young people through five robust programs: Educational Outreach, the Support Center, Stop the Cycle, the Restoration Project, and the Shelter.
Ultimately, we want to see the post-orphanage youth of Zhytomyr in stable, healthy families, using their gifts and passions in fulfilling, sustainable work.
Over the next year, we hope to share a story each month to celebrate ten years of God’s abundant blessing to the staff and young people of Last Bell!
